151 Main Street, Punta Gorda Town, Belize, Central America
Where is the Coral House Inn?
Located at the south end of Main Street in Punta Gorda, the Coral House Inn is as far south as you can drive on
paved roads in Belize. We are across the road from the hospital overlooking the Caribbean Sea on the Gulf of
Honduras. You can get here by car, bus or air from Belize City. The boat trip from Puerto Barrios, Guatemala, only
takes about 45 minutes.
Inside the walls
Of course the rooms are very comfortable
and clean but outside the rooms is what
make this such a special place for you to
enjoy. The wonderful verandas offer
several options for places to sit or lie to
relax and enjoy the view. The dining room,
used for complimentary breakfast in the
morning, is also a great place for small
meetings, and card and board games. The
comfortable living room and small book
exchange/gift shop, showcase a variety of
Belizean crafts, art and antiques. There are
flower and fruit gardens around nearly
every corner for bird and butterfly watching
or simply places to reflect on the day. The
pool, pool patio and poolside bar are great
spots for casual conversation and
relaxation. Even at night the grounds are a
beautiful environment.
During breakfast in the dining room or on
the pool patio, you'll have a great view of
the Caribbean Sea. Enjoy a book in a
hammock or an early morning coffee
watching the sunrise at the Coral House Inn.
During the Christmas season, Jonkonu
dancers and drummers may drop by to
perform their traditional dances and stories.
Punta Gorda is culturally diverse with Maya,
Garifuna, Creole, Mestizo, Chinese and
East Indian populations.

Outside the walls
Just outside the old adobe walls, you will find three historic US
Confederate graves. Many confederates moved to southern Belize
after the U.S. Civil War. There are still several descendants of these
immigrants living in the area.
The seashore in front of this property is comprised of plentiful sea
glass and small sea worn pebbles. The beach is narrow but at low tide,
you can walk along the shore in search of the many sea treasures.
The Punta Gorda town center is an easy walk, but one of our
complimentary bicycles can make your trip around town a little quicker.
A little longer bike ride can take you to the Rio Grande River or the
Moho River. One of our favorite villages, Boom Creek, is on the banks
of the Moho. It is about 8 miles from Coral House Inn, but you are
rewarded with a great spot to swim and picnic at the end of the ride.
The Toledo District offers a wonderful variety of attractions from the
Maya Mountains to the amazing Sapodilla Cayes on the Belize Barrier
Reef. Your adventure could be kayaking on the rivers or sea, bird
watching, visiting Maya villages, cave exploration, beautiful waterfalls
or snorkeling or diving at the cayes.
Make the Coral House Inn in Punta Gorda your home base for a
memorable Belizean adventure.
We will connect you with local tour operators for organized tours.
